Abstract: This study addresses sustainability challenges in vocational training facilities in Nigeria, exploring environmental, economic, and social sustainability practices and strategies to enhance operational efficiency, resource management, and long-term viability of vocational education institutions. Sustainable practices in vocational training facilities encompass energy efficiency, waste reduction, and ecological stewardship, promoting environmental responsibility and cost-effective operations while supporting educational goals and community engagement. The research aims to (1) identify sustainability challenges and barriers faced by vocational training facilities in Nigeria, (2) assess current practices and initiatives promoting sustainability in vocational education settings, and (3) propose recommendations for integrating sustainable practices into vocational training facilities to improve resource efficiency, reduce environmental impact, and enhance institutional resilience. A survey research design is employed to gather insights from facility managers, sustainability coordinators, and educational administrators involved in sustainability initiatives. A sample size of 300 participants will be chosen through purposive sampling to represent vocational training facility managers, environmental officers, and educational policymakers in Bayelsa State. Case studies will examine sustainable facility projects and their outcomes in enhancing operational efficiency and environmental stewardship. Findings indicated varying levels of sustainability awareness and implementation, identified challenges such as funding constraints and infrastructure limitations, and highlighted the role of leadership commitment and community partnerships in promoting sustainable practices. Recommendations include integrating sustainability into curriculum frameworks, investing in green technologies, and fostering a culture of environmental responsibility to ensure vocational training facilities contribute to sustainable development goals and provide resilient learning environments for future generations.
